Common Questions (FAQ)
1. Who owns the domain name after I buy it?
You fully own the domain as long as it is active and renewed. CluueX assists with registration and management but does not claim ownership. Simply put: You pay . You own . We help manage it.
2. Can I transfer my domain to another registrar?
Yes, after the standard ICANN 60-day waiting period. Transfers require:
- No ongoing fraud or dispute
- No outstanding balance
- Payment of the Domain Release Fee: $1.5 (₦2,000) before CluueX releases the EPP/Auth code
3. How long does domain registration last?
Domains are registered for one year by default unless a longer period is chosen. Annual renewal is your responsibility to maintain ownership.
4. What happens if I don’t renew on time?
If not renewed:
- Grace Period (0 - 30 days): You can renew normally.
- Redemption Phase (31- 60+ days): Restoration may require extra registry fees.
- Release: Domain becomes publicly available; CluueX cannot guarantee recovery.
5. Can CluueX hold or suspend my domain?
Only for valid reasons: fraud, abuse, chargebacks, or ICANN compliance issues. Otherwise, CluueX will not block your domain.
6. Does CluueX require real registration details?
Yes. Accurate information is required by ICANN. False or unverifiable info may result in suspension or deletion.
7. Can CluueX configure my DNS for external hosting?
Yes, CluueX can configure your domain to point to any external host (e.g., Cloudflare, Shopify, WordPress). A DNS Configuration Fee: $1.5 (₦2,000) applies per request. This fee covers:
- Nameserver changes
- A/CNAME/MX/TXT/SRV records
- Email/SSL setups
- Verification & troubleshooting
If you configure DNS yourself, no fee is required.
Terms & Agreement
1. Domain Ownership
You own the domain as long as it is renewed. CluueX is only your registrar/agent. Loss of ownership due to non-renewal is your responsibility. Protect your credentials at all times.
2. Registration Information
Provide accurate, verifiable personal or business information. CluueX may request verification. False info may result in suspension or deletion.
3. Domain Transfers
- Transfers are allowed after the ICANN 60-day period.
- Domain must be active and not in dispute.
- Outstanding balances must be cleared.
- Domain Release Fee: $1.5 / ₦2,000 applies before release.
- After release, CluueX no longer manages DNS, billing, or renewal.
4. Domain Renewal & Expiration
- Renew before expiration to retain ownership.
- CluueX is not liable for expired domains.
- Email reminders may not always be delivered.
- Late renewals may require extra redemption fees charged by the registry.
5. DNS & Management Controls
- You have full access to DNS via CluueX dashboard.
- DNS errors are your responsibility.
- Propagation may take 24 - 72 hours.
- DNS Configuration Fee: $1.5 / ₦2,000 applies for external DNS changes handled by CluueX.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
Domains cannot be used for:
- Illegal activity
- Fraud, phishing, or impersonation
- Malware or spam
- Any ICANN violations
Violations may result in immediate suspension.
7. Fees & Payments
- All payments must be complete before activation or renewal.
- Fees are non-refundable unless required by law.
- Chargebacks lead to immediate suspension or deletion.
- Pricing may change at any time due to registry or CluueX updates.
- Special fees: Domain Release & DNS Configuration - $1.5 / ₦2,000 each, subject to change.
8. Limitation of Liability
CluueX is not responsible for:
- Domain loss due to expiration
- Incorrect DNS configurations
- Registry or ICANN actions
- Third-party hosting issues
- Propagation delays
- Inaccurate customer details
Services are provided “as available.”
9. Agreement Acceptance
By purchasing or managing a domain through CluueX, you agree to:
- Follow ICANN rules
- Provide accurate information
- Renew domains on time
- Use domains responsibly
- Pay all applicable CluueX fees
- Accept this full agreement without exceptions
If you do not agree, do not register or manage a domain via CluueX.
